Well I've been resisting blogging about life, but now that I've been tagged, what can I do. I have no choice but to reveal five things about myself that people don't usually know, and that doesn't fit the format of my blog. So lets blog about the daily grind. Warning: What you are about to read may put you to sleep.
1. I once proudly wore lederhozen. I did so while living at Latitude: 47°18'45.87"N Longitude 9°38'32.03"E, (you'll need Google Earth to find the spot). This is where I prayed my first prayer and watched my first television.
2. My bestest ever car was a 1963 Mercury Comet, just like the one in these pictures-- except this one's restored, so it's got a nice new finish. I particularly loved the back-- the way the wings were modest and the lights stood out in 3D. Even the colour and the beauty rings on the wheels are accurate. This car was no heavier than a compact car is today, 2500 lbs. It sported a 260 CID V8 engine and a two speed automatic transmission. The HP
output was only rated at 164, but my uncle installed an
aftermarket carb on a spacer above the intake manifold. With the lid on the air intake flipped over, a little (OK more than a little) extra advance on the distributor timing and a special tune-up and yike, what a lot of fun I had. Often times I'd pull up at a light beside really hot cars. When the light went green I only fell behind for the first 50 or 60 feet (two-speed remember) and then it was all over for the competition. Floored, it used first gear until almost 60 MPH and wound out at 6500 rpm. By the time it finished shifting into second I was up to 70. Man was that fun!
3. I have vivid dreams. It's like the late night movies.
4. I do hobbies but I don't keep the same hobby for long. My wife Cheryl will vouch for each of these: cars, model airplanes, stamps, rocks and minerals, gardening, electronics and computers, woodworking, and aquariums. Don't ask me what's next.
5. I read every issue of Scientific American cover to cover and listen to every episode of the Quirks and Quarks show by podcast.
